Our family-run nursery is in Brittany, France. It has been producing a wide range of high-quality plants (especially Camellias) for garden centers and nurseries since 1944. Our family business continues to grow every year. And it brings new varieties for amateurs as well as keen gardeners.

Pierre Stervinou founded Stervinou nursery in Brest in the 1940s. It started as a retail enterprise, with the goal of producing a wide range of plants for sale in the Brittany region. At the end of the 1950s, the nursery began to specialise in the production of ericaceous plants. We focus on Camellias, Rhododendrons and Azaleas. The range of our clients soon spread from Brittany. And now includes professional nurseries and plant collectors throughout France.

Today Pepinieres Stervinou is a pioneer in the development of ericaceous plants. Alain Stervinou has the benefit of over forty years of experience in his field. Our nursery is popular in France and abroad primarily for its Camellia production. We produce every year, over 50,000 cuttings and grafts, which we make from the nursery’s mother plants. They have been collected from around the world. About 200 varieties of Camellias are currently in production. They represent a meticulous selection of the most attractive and disease-resistant plants.

Other specialties of the nursery include Rhododendrons (an annual production of 25,000 plants representing more than 100 varieties), Japanese and Chinese Azaleas. as well as Magnolias and Hydrangeas. And a wide range of shrubs, which you may discover on our web site.

As a matter of fact, our production takes place on about fifteen hectares at Kerguelen in Guipronvel. This is a small village located in the north of Finistère, Brittany’s north-westernmost department. In addition, the mild climate and acid soil of this location are particularly favourable for the growth of ericaceous plants. In fact, the Stervinou nursery employs between fifteen and twenty workers year-round. And they manage the production and shipment of thousands of plants to France and other European destinations.

The customer base of our nursery is composed primarily of professional nurseries, garden centres and landscape companies. But also includes numerous individual collectors.
