Cistus Nursery – Oregon’s Renowned Source for Exceptional Plants

Cistus Nursery is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most respected specialty plant nurseries, located in Portland, Oregon. Established in the mid-1990s, the nursery has earned an outstanding reputation for offering an extraordinary selection of rare, unusual, and climate-adapted plants sourced from around the world. Its collection includes thousands of carefully chosen species and cultivars, making it a favorite destination for home gardeners, landscape designers, botanical collectors, and horticultural professionals.

The nursery specializes in Mediterranean-climate plants, drought-tolerant species, hardy shrubs, ornamental trees, perennials, grasses, succulents, and unique flowering plants that thrive in the Pacific Northwest and similar climates. Cistus Nursery is particularly recognized for introducing lesser-known plant varieties that combine exceptional ornamental value with resilience to changing weather conditions and reduced water requirements.

Sustainability is central to the nursery’s philosophy. The team promotes environmentally responsible gardening by encouraging the use of plants that require less irrigation while supporting biodiversity and pollinator-friendly landscapes. Many of the plants are grown on-site, allowing the nursery to maintain high standards of quality, health, and adaptability.

Beyond its impressive plant selection, Cistus Nursery is valued for its horticultural expertise. Detailed plant descriptions, growing recommendations, and knowledgeable staff help customers choose the right plants for their specific garden conditions. The nursery continually evaluates new introductions, ensuring that its collection remains diverse, innovative, and suited to modern landscape challenges.

Today, Cistus Nursery continues to inspire gardeners throughout Oregon and beyond with its commitment to botanical diversity, sustainable gardening practices, and exceptional customer service. Whether creating a drought-resistant landscape, expanding a rare plant collection, or designing a vibrant ornamental garden, customers can rely on Cistus Nursery for distinctive, high-quality plants and expert guidance.
